An app to increase donations for the animals at "Kids Saving The Rainforest"

Addressing
the problem

​

A small charity in the heart of Costa Rica resides Kids Saving the rainforest, a sanctuary that passionately focuses on the rescue, research, and rehabilitation of iconic species.
However, there is very small funding for this charity due to it having a small internet presence. The website has an impersonal donation feature and lacks information about where the user's donation is going. This is where I came in and created an app to promote animal donation packages

At Kids Saving the Rainforest, I recognized the need for a more accessible and efficient way to collect donations to support the vital conservation efforts. With a passion for both technology and the environment, I took the initiative to develop a user-friendly mobile app.

This app streamlined the donation process, allowing supporters to contribute easily and securely with just a few taps on their smartphones. Implementing these strategies will improve the likelihood of additional donations as there are less touchpoints when making donations. This makes the process far easier and leaves the donator walking away from the experience with a positive mindset that they have made a real contribution. 

The Solution 

This was achieved by implementing a series of thoughtful features on our website. To make the donation process more personable and engaging,

I introduced a client profile app, allowing donors to create personalised accounts where they could track their contributions and stay updated on conservation projects.

Additionally, I designed a comprehensive fact file, showcasing detailed information about the various animals we protect, fostering a deeper connection between donors and our mission.
The heart of our fundraising efforts was a meticulously crafted animal donation page, providing donors with the option to support specific animals and initiatives that resonated with them. These enhancements not only made the donation experience seamless but also reinforced our commitment to transparency and donor engagement, leading to increased support for Kids Saving the Rainforest's vital work.

A personal touch 

By creating a personal profile on the app, the donations will feel more personal to the individual.  The doner will also be able to keep up on updates through the app rather than just emails which would create a better bond between the doner and the animals they have donated. This in turn would increase reoccurring donors to donate.

User Research

A key undertaking for this project was understanding user behaviours and needs through observation techniques. This was achieved mainly through interviews of the target audience for Kids Saving The Rainforest. 

Families with kids

Families constitute a portion of the day tour and volunteers at KSTR. They participate actively by adopting animals. Maintaining a balance between fun and simplicity in design will enhance navigation for these users.

Results from interviews 

Pain point: "After donating, there is little information about the animal" Opportunity: A personal profile page for every donation.
